Entrance Exams and Professional Courses in India

Studying in some of the prestigious institutes in India requires you to pass an entrance exam. Entrance exams are not only for engineering, medicine and management, but also for law, fashion, design, agriculture, law, and more. Let's take a look at the various engineering tests that open doors to higher education in different streams.

Engineering & Technology Related Fields

IIT JEE (Main & Advanced): Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examinations qualify you for studying in NIT, IIT and engineering colleges under central govt. If you want to secure an engineering/technology related seat in the most prestigious institutes of the country, these are the exams you have to pass.

IIT JEE Advanced examinations are open only for students who pass the Mains.


GATE - (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering): Engineering graduates can take this test for admission to IIT, AIST, NIT, IIIT, etc for higher education. The qualification is also good for securing engineering jobs in various institutions.


VITEEE (Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination):  Qualification in this exam opens doors to Engineering Graduate courses in VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology).


BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test): Birla Institute has various campuses in India.


Kerala Entrance Examination - Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE) Kerala conducts entrance examinations to various professional courses in Kerala including B.Tech, B.Arch, Medical & Paramedical Courses, Ayurveda, Dental, Homoeo, Law, etc - in both graduate and post-graduate levels.


Medical Field 

The different examinations conducted for aspirants for medical courses are as following.


NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test): This test replaces All India Premedical/Pre Dental Test. Unlike the premedical/pre-dental exam, this exam is for state-wise admissions too. You can get admissions to medical & dental colleges in different states including Kerala, Karnataka, Haryana, etc. The score qualifies for both government and private medical colleges in the country.

NEET PG - This test is for students pursuing Post Graduate courses in medical field.

AIIMS EE (All India Institute of Medical Sciences Entrance Examination): For admission to AIIMS. NEET is not enough to secure an admission to AIIMS.

AFMC EE (Armed Forces Medical College Entrance Exam): Both for medical education and service in India's defense forces. Those who admitted to MBBS courses are required to complete at least seven (7) years' service with military.

Legal Studies


CLAT (Common Law Admission Test): This test qualifies you for 14 different universities in the country. The admissions are to graduate and post graduate courses in Law (LLB & LLM).

AILET (All India Law Entrance Test): National Law University, Delhi conducts this exam for five-year integrated BA-LLB course.

Fashion & Design


NIFT EE (National Institute of Fashion Technoloy Entrance Examination) conducted by NIFT qualifies you to go to one of the most glamorous institutes in Indian fashion field. You can opt for Fashion Technology, Fashion Design, and different other courses.
